My baby boy will be four-years-old next week, which is so unbelievable because that sounds really old. We celebrated his birthday with his preschool today because the twins and Gabriel have off all next and I am not planning on taking Jeremiah to school next week so we can all spend some time together with as little running around as possible.
Jeremiah wanted me to make pumpkin muffins for his birthday treats. Not a problem under normal circumstances, but my kitchen is still gutted and everything is still in boxes, and I don't know specifically where anything is (ie. food, mixing bowls, mixing spoons, spices, etc. etc.). I have to wash all dishes in a bathroom sink or bathtub, so I do as little baking and cooking as possible. Or at least I try to get as few items as dirty as possible. It literally took me 2.5 hours to make the muffins from woah to go and something went horribly wrong. I couldn't figure out what it was--they tasted good but just sank when I took them out of the oven. Then I woke up at 4:30 and had an epiphany. I usually make a double batch of muffins, so I had put a double the pumpkin in and only the regular amount of the other ingredients! So, I got up and re-made the muffins at 4:30 in the morning. Fortunately, I had just put all the stuff back in it's boxes, so I could get my hands on the items quickly, so this batch was much quicker. And they came out perfectly.
So, I got to be the mommy helper in Jeremiah's class today, which he was very excited about. We brought Star Wars plates and napkins and Cars Juicy Juice Boxes and our pumpkin muffins. And for the third time in four years, I got to help the kids make their reindeer ornament. He had a good day. And I was glad not to have to go in next week to do his birthday when the other kids would be home.
At the end of the day, he gave his teacher, Miss Laura, a blessing, and told the preschool director that he wanted to be a priest. She had no doubt that he was destined for a priestly calling.
