39 Years Old

Talk about sounding old. When I type the number 39, 8 somehow seems so much younger! On Saturday, I celebrated my 39th birthday, by God's grace. David made birthday breakfast and cleaned it up! The french toast was delicious. He also took the boys to their basketball game so I wouldn't have to run around on my birthday. We had a relaxing day and then went to Mass at 4:30. I really wanted to go to Mass on my birthday, and Fr. Bianco said he had the Mass, so that was bonus. After we got settled in our pew, the sacristan asked us if we would want to bring up the gifts. Everyone was excited to do so except Nathaniel, who was petrified. David dragged him up when it was time though and Nathaniel hid behind David while he walked down the super long center aisle in front of a full church celebrating Epiphany Mass. I am certain Fr. Bianco asked the sacristan to have us bring up the gifts because he knew it was the twins' birthday the day before and my birthday today.  Isabelle and Jeremiah did a great job--they were the first ones to walk down the aisle and needed no coaxing or cajoling at all. Gabriel walked down the aisle starting out next to them, then he went next to me, then he fell behind. David and Nathaniel brought up the rear with Nathaniel hiding behind David the whole time.

After Mass, we went home and David made me a drink and gave me some presents, which I really was not expecting since he told me the kitchen would be my present for many holidays to come. And since the backsplash got put in on Friday (which is just amazing by the way), I really thought that was my gift. Then, the babysitter came, which the kids were super excited about and David took me out to Bud's for dinner. My friend, Ken, had a special bottle of 1999 Brunello waiting for us and it was delicious. Ken also cooked for us--we never saw a menu and he kept bringing out food for us to try. Everything was delicious.

So, it was a very nice birthday all around, but that number is looking awfully high to me.

Happy Birthday, Alex! You certainly don't look or act old, so I think you are doing great :) So glad you had such a special day.
