It's hard to believe that my precious miracle babies, the babies who made me a mother, who taught me how to be a mother, are eight years old today. Time, that perpetual and masterful thief, seems to have stolen another year from both me and from them as they have grown up before my very eyes and I hardly noticed it while it was happening. They have long since ceased to be babies, and I would no longer classify them as little kids. They are full-fledged people, real people, mature, loving and all grown up. Of course, they are precious and amazing and I am blessed to be their mother. They are my life (within them beats my heart and runs my blood), everything I have ever wanted and more than I have ever deserved.
In making their 8th birthday montage, I sought their input for the songs since they are really into music now. Fortunately, they are into the "classics" because that is all I play on my iPod. The featured songs are:
--Yahweh by U2 (this is really my prayer for them)
--A Sort of Homecoming (Nathaniel's favorite song and one of Isabelle's top three--I am not sure why they love this song and it really isn't a dedication type of song, but they love it and I am happy to oblige a U2 song)
--If I Needed You by Lyle Lovett (this is my prayer for them in their relationship--that they would always be there for each other, "swim the seas, for to ease your pain.")
