David's older kids all came to visit last week so we all celebrated the New Year together. It was just a simple celebration but David had some tricks up his sleeve for the children's entertainment. People started getting sick in our house last Wednesday. Jeremiah woke up with his whole bed covered in vomit. Then Isabelle got it. Then David got it. The big kids came on Thursday. By Friday, I was sick and down for the count. It also knocked me out most of the day Saturday. I did get a shower and we made it to New Year's Eve Mass, then came home and cooked dinner. While I cooked, Evee helped the kids make a gingerbread house. We had surf-n-turf, which looked good, but I wasn't feeling up for eating. By this time, Josh had come down with the bug and was sleeping. After dinner, David took the kids outside and lit a fire and lit off fireworks, while I cleaned up dinner. He had some pretty spectacular ones that he picked up in Pennsylvania when we went to the Poconos, which I was able to watch out the new kitchen windows from the warmth of the house.
The little guys stayed up until about 11:30 and I we finally got them to bed and I followed shortly behind. David and the big kids stayed up in the pool house playing video games until 4:00 in the morning.
